When the owners of this 1916 Prairie-style bungalow decided to transform two small bedrooms and a bath into a sublime, Asian-theme master suite, they soon realized they also needed to incorporate specialty storage solutions to organize the sprawling space and suit their individual needs. The architectural overhaul fashioned a sitting room, dressing room, walk-in closets, and shower room out of various spaces, but curbing the clutter required careful planning, impeccable attention to detail, and innovative yet simple designs.
The most striking element of the project is a large mahogany headboard that doubles as an entertainment center and successfully divides the long, narrow room into two distinct areas. The sleeping side of the partition features adjustable lighting and a soothing grid design. The reverse side serves as a media center, anchoring the sitting room and creating an upstairs family room. Gooseneck sconces on the headboard help keep the twin bedside tables clutter-free.
