1. Use Color and Pattern to Create Mood

Bedroom color schemes tend to be cool or neutral because it's usually a room for rest. If you like to wake up to cheerful colors, however, don't be afraid to draw on the warm side of the color wheel. Bright yellow or red walls could be just what you need to help you spring out of bed in the morning.

Layer on style with fabric and wallpaper. Toile and floral patterns introduce a romantic mood while checks, plaids, and stripes impose order. Geometrics are good partners for florals, but if too much pattern feels busy, limit yourself to stripes and plaids with a solid.
