PROS:

• Most affordable type of cabinetry.
• Immediate (or very quick) availability.
• Selection of door styles, finishes, and storage accessories has increased dramatically in the last few years.

PRICE:

• $75—$250 per linear foot (without hardware); installation costs are not included.
• Storage accessories and certain door styles and finishes can greatly increase the overall price.
• Full-overlay doors can cost 10—50 percent more than partial-overlay doors.

CONS:

• Cabinet boxes can't be modified; cabinet widths are only available in 3-inch increments.
• Limited wood species and door styles.
• Cabinets often have particleboard sides, rather than plywood (considered an upgrade).
• Many doors are wood veneer instead of solid wood.
