Stock Cabinets
PROS:
- Most affordable type of cabinetry.
- Immediate (or very quick) availability.
- Selection of door styles, finishes, and storage accessories has increased dramatically in the last few years.
PRICE:
- $75—$250 per linear foot (without hardware); installation costs are not included.
- Storage accessories and certain door styles and finishes can greatly increase the overall price.
- Full-overlay doors can cost 10—50 percent more than partial-overlay doors.
CONS:
- Cabinet boxes can't be modified; cabinet widths are only available in 3-inch increments.
- Limited wood species and door styles.
- Cabinets often have particleboard sides, rather than plywood (considered an upgrade).
- Many doors are wood veneer instead of solid wood.
