Rustic arbors usually take one of two forms: One style, called live branch, is made of sturdy branches with the bark still intact. The other type of rustic garden structure construction uses rough-sawn lumber. In both styles, the use of rustic design and materials doesn't necessarily mean crude engineering. This live-branch arbor features a curved roof structure that increases strength and exploits the tension inherent in the bent branches. These techniques are actually more efficient than using dressed lumber from milling machines.
