Q: How much space should there be between the top of a range and an exhaust hood?
A: Range hood manufacturers generally recommend keeping a space of 18-24 inches between a cooking surface and the bottom of a standard hood. For higher-end hoods with stronger fans, the suggested distance is 24-30 inches. Model specifications are available from range hood and manufacturers and dealers.
