Here's a happy solution to the need for storage in a kitchen with few windows: Buy a cabinet that fits over the window, remove the back, and replace the door panels with reeded-glass inserts.
Install the unit slightly higher than the flanking cabinets to allow for window operation. Crown molding on the new cabinet can emphasize it as a focal point.

I can't get this to submit. It keeps asking me for more comments.
7/4/2010 01:49:39 AM Report AbuseI shopped and shopped townhomes, condos, single family homes before buying--had to settle for this that met other needs and give up on the kitchen. Given the same space, I know I could have made a much better floor plan. Jean Michel

Counter space and storage are a problem-- I have to store all my larger pots and pans and all my baking equipment in the garage! Some idiot person who does not cook planned this.
