How Much Paint to Buy
Q: We're in the thinking stage right now, but we plan to paint most of our home in the next few months. Are there any tips or tricks you can give us for figuring out how much paint to buy?
A: Try using the online paint calculator at www.bhg.com/sipHowMuchPaint. This will work for figuring how much stain to buy as well.
Just fill in a series of boxes, and the amounts will be calculated for you. You'll need to provide the square footage of your walls, number of doors, number of small and medium windows, number of large windows, paint manufacturer's estimate of area coverage by a gallon, and the condition of the wall surface.
