Set a stylish tone with stripes on the wall. With low contrast between the colors and a narrow width for the stripes, the treatment adds depth and interest to the walls but doesn't compete with the fabrics and collections.
As a counterpoint to the stripes, treat unfinished wood cabinets with a wash of diluted paint to let the grain of the wood show through. Thin latex paint with water and rub on with clean rags. Top with water-base varnish to make the cabinets easy to clean.
