Contractor Questions for You
Contractor Questions for You
When you meet with a contractor for the first time, it's best to be prepared. Here are six questions to be ready to answer from a contractor.
1. What kind of project do you want to do?
The more you know about your ideal project, the better. To clarify your desires, look at magazines, walk through stores, and search the Internet. If you're too busy to do the research, then you may have to call in a designer to help you get started.
2. What is your budget?
Don't be vague; the contractor must know how much you want to spend before he or she can guide you. If you have $15,000 for a bathroom remodeling, that tells the contractor about the level of quality and elegance you desire. If you have $60,000 to spend, that sends a different message.
3. How will you pay for this?
That may sound nosey, but nearly all contractors have stories about homeowners who didn't have the means to pay for a project once the work was under way. You want to hire a company with a solid financial basis, and this question demonstrates that.
