Covering Window Walls

Advice on reducing light coming through windows.

Window Film

Q: We recently moved into a home with a window wall that gives us an incredible view. It would be perfect, except that it gets uncomfortably hot when the afternoon sun shines through the windows. This particular window wall would not look good with blinds. Is there another option?

A: Window film may give you relief from the hot sun. One of the major names in this industry is Llumar Window Film from CPFilms, Inc. Depending on the type of film you install, light flooding into your home can be reduced by 12 to 93 percent, and this includes ultraviolet rays that can damage upholstery and finishes. Window film can also provide significant energy savings. Look for window film installers in the Window Glass Tinting & Coating section of the Yellow Pages.
