Garage Storage Ideas
Taming Garage Clutter
If your garage storage isn't as efficient as you would like it to be, consider installing garage-specific systems that will allow you to store your stuff and even park your car in the garage. Look for ceiling-mount storage units, slat wall systems, and cabinets to contain garage clutter.
Use ceiling-mount systems to store items you use only occasionally. State-of-the-art lift systems with hand cranks and steel cables are available for loading and lifting heavy items. Hoists with locking mechanisms keep bikes up and out of the way. A wall-mount wet/dry shop vacuum in the garage is handy for keeping the car clean.
Install slat wall panels over studs, drywall, or a masonry wall. They are easy to put up with standard drywall screws. Made from a rigid foamed PVC extrusion or heavy-duty plastic, they provide additional insulation and usually can be cut using a standard circular saw. Once the panels are installed, you can customize your storage needs with hooks, baskets, shelves, and cabinets that attach with mounting hardware.
