I really like the ideas here. Yes, it is priced real high, can not afford to buy them. I live in a 12' x 50' mobile home, My neighbors has helped us with a lot of work that I am not able to do, I watch their girl do not charge. Also I do look for deals in the newspapers for free, or yard sale for cabinets which can be made over to fit my needs. There is a cabinet maker, close by, they were updating the office space, getting rid of cabinets, door front that is not painted.
4/20/2010 10:55:34 AM Report AbusePart4: I like the storage drawer under the sink, but that would reduce the height in the sink cabinet enough that I doubt you could get a pull-out trash can in there. I do agree with others who have written that it would be helpful to see things that can be purchased for existing kitchens.
3/25/2010 12:16:17 PM Report AbusePart3: I installed a wire rack "drawer" that I could easily remove out of the door of the cabinet, and a (sideways) wooden drawer on a track that would roll into the space previously occupied by the wire rack drawer. This hinged one is so much better, and if there is not a retrofit kit now I will bet there will be soon.
3/25/2010 12:15:50 PM Report AbusePart2: The solution for blind end cabinets (hinged pull out) is brilliant, and could be retrofitted into an existing cabinet. (I made something similar but not as sophisticated for my old cabinets - I have a medium sized kitchen and I really needed that space.
3/25/2010 12:15:05 PM Report AbusePart 1: We recently remodeled our kitchen and had a 3" bottom "gap" which we filled with a spice cabinet. It is wonderful, but if I had known about using it for frying pans, utensils, etc. I may have gone with that route instead. This is NOT something that can be retrofitted, but would have to be in the kitchen layout.
3/25/2010 12:14:20 PM Report AbuseI agree all these solutions are way out of my price range
3/21/2010 10:05:49 AM Report AbuseI've seen pull out racks on rollers at "bed, bath and beyond" at about the $75 or less range. I plan to get some of those. The pull out "kitchen storage" seems if you were handy could make out something similar with a peg board or punch holes in galvanized metal?
3/12/2010 07:14:07 AM Report Abusedelnettap I know!!! I can't afford $200 - $500 for a cabinet. I live with my mom (who's on SSN) and I work part time. We really do need to update some things, but we can't even afford $50 - $100 for cabinets. We don't even have a regular size stove because 1 doesn't fit.
2/27/2010 12:20:45 PM Report AbuseI would like to see ideas that do not cost so much. And more realistic ideas for small kitchen spaces. We all do not have big houses and a lot of money to spend.
